We are excited to have Bring Your Burdens Worship with us for Believe Weekend 2022.

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you.
He will never permit the righteous to be moved.

A group of Christ-following young adults dedicated to using our talents to glorify the Lord, and to further His kingdom. 

We grew up together in our home church, First Baptist Church of Highlands. Throughout middle & high school, a few of us played together in the student ministry band. We graduated high school and pursued our educational goals until we were asked to lead worship together as a band for our home church’s DNOW in early 2017. That weekend was incredibly eye opening for all of us and we knew that God had a plan for our future. Playing together for this event planted the seed for what would become BYB. After much prayer and consideration, we felt God’s calling to worship ministry.

Thus, we united as Bring Your Burdens Worship in June 2017.

Ashley Bohnic

Believe Weekend is one week away, and we are excited to have guest speaker, Ashley Bohnic with us for the main sessions!!!

Ashley Bohinc serves as the Director of Middle School Strategy at Orange and the Executive Director of Carry 117, a ministry in Ethiopia which focuses on orphan prevention and family preservation by empowering women. She is most passionate about resourcing the local church, communicating onstage, developing leaders, working with students, and engaging in world missions. Additionally, in her downtime, you’ll find her watching Friends, cheering on the Cleveland Cavaliers, traveling, reading, on one of her Fairytale Friday Adventures, or sorting through her massive collection of army green vests and jackets.

Believe Weekend is our time where the full Oakwood Student Ministry gathers at Oakwood for Large Group Sessions, meets in Host Homes for Small Group discussion Friday and Saturday night, and makes a difference in the community with our can-drive. We are excited to bring back our full weekend event and focus on Loving God and Loving Others in 2022.

RESPECT – 2KINGS 2:23-24

When you throw around ideas in a meeting to find a THEME something like… BELIEVE WEEKEND… other ideas swim through your head as well!

Don’t worry, we are not asking GOD to bring any SHE-BEARS to Believe Weekend. Our intention is to challenge students to BEAR FRUIT. A completely DIFFERENT MESSAGE than this one!

However, if you are a parent in sudden need of a quick lesson on RESPECT, this IS IN THE BIBLE.

‘He went up from there to Bethel, and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” And he turned around, and when he saw them, he cursed them in the name of the Lord . And two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the boys. From there he went on to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.’ 2 Kings 2:23-25
